Pastoral Team

At Links Multi Academy Trust we work with parents/carers and families to create the best outcomes for the most successful futures for all our students. We create a team around your child so both you and your child have multiple points of support and contact. These include:

  1. The Pastoral Team at both St Albans and Hatfield made up of 2 or 3 specialist, non-teaching pastoral leaders. Your child will be allocated a key worker from the pastoral team. The pastoral team will be available throughout the day to listen and support you with any issues for which you need assistance.
  2. The allocated form tutor. Normally a member of the teaching staff. Children will meet with their form tutor twice per day at least. This will be an important individual for both you and your child
  3. Your child will be allocated a mentor. This could be from any member of staff on site. They will meet weekly for about 30 minutes and discuss a range of issues including pathways, motivation, wellbeing and much more.
  4. Each team also have a Senior Leadership Team and they will be in regular contact with you throughout your child’s time at Links Academy
  5. We also have several services available on site and these include our Healthy Lifestyle Lead and to counselling services at the school one day a week.

How will I know about the progress of my child?

We hold regular Student Parent Review Days throughout the academic year, during this appointment there is the opportunity to discuss your child’s progression with our Pastoral team. Your child’s targets will be discussed by all involved, including the Parents/Carers and Student allowing for optimal success while at Links Multi Academy Trust. We insist on family involvement and are available to discuss any concerns you may have. Whilst we are predominantly here to work with the young people in our setting, we recognise that no truly holistic approach to child development can operate without supporting the parent/carers as well. We will offer support ourselves, signpost and refer to outside agencies whenever there is a need to do so. However, this is always done in consultation, and with the support of, parent/carers.

We work with several outside agencies when required. Although by no means an exhaustive list, among them are:

  • Services for Young People (SFYP)
  • CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health service)
  • Change Grow Live (CGL) (Alcohol, drugs addiction support group) NHS.
  • SENDIASS
  • Family Centres
  • CEDARS the Primary Support Base in St Albans
  • Lives not Knives
  • SASH – Specialist Adolescent Service
  • CCE Prevention and Diversion Team
  • Children’s Services

If your child is going to be late or unable to attend school for any reason, please contact us by phone on 01727 836150 or 01707 346170.
